I recently got a piano instructor job for the first time, and some of my students who are playing piano for three to four years cant play sonatas or even harder piano pieces? What are those teacher’s techniques without being rude/mean to students? and please give me some proper answers tnx
I have a 7 yr. old little girl who loves to read, and is very good at it. However, she’s a bit behind in math, struggling a bit w/ basic addition facts, and counting $$ (this is what they taught her in 1st grade!). I have been trying to practice these problems with her over the summer so she’s ready for 2nd grade. I only do Math games/activities for 15 min. with her…once in the morning and once in the evening. She complains, doesn’t want to do it, doesn’t pay attention to me. I’m puzzled at how I am struggling to teach her because she doesn’t pay attention. However, I am able to teach my own students. They do what I ask them to do, they cooperate in class…but working with my own daughter is draining! This doesn’t make sense! How come I can work better w/ kids not my own but when it comes to my own flesh and blood, she doesn’t pay attention, wants to watch TV, and wants to play ‘Teacher’ with me…she wants to be the Teacher and for me to be the student! Any advice from other teachers with children will be appreciated!!!!

as a student..did he play her because now he won’t talk to her anymore how to know if he only played the teacher or he really did love her? He knows she has a boyfriend and wants the pictures but doesn’t was to go to her wedding He is 15

I have a math teacher that really plays favorites. And to be a favorite you have to kiss some serious ass. Which i really dont want to do. Its 3 weeks into school and i already have an F (Math isnt my strong point, but ive never had an F in it) But when he taught my older brother 3 years ago it was hell for my brother as well. When my brother would walk into class he would say” Gonna quit today Skyler?” But my brother endured it and i think that made him mad. Also the teacher rambles on and on and on AND ON about some insignificant thing like how his kid can beat up anyone he wants. And when he finally teaches something you miss it. And he is very condisending. I dont think a solution would be to talk to him or the principal because it would just get blown off and my life would thus be even harder. Any ideas on how i can stick it out through his class?
Our music and band teacher plays favorites. And its really annoying! Her favorites are the trombone players. She only lets them direct songs (when we have the chance) and when they forget there instruments, she doesnt care!
Where, if I forget my instrument, she yells at me, and if I want to direct a song, she ignores me.
Its not like I’m not as good as them, Im better! (I dont mean to judge, but im on a more complicated book than them) But she just likes them better. When I go to my lesson, she talks to me like she wants to be anywhere but here, but when the trombone players have a lesson (even though they normally forget) she acts like she just won the lottery!
How can I get her to stop playing favorites, or at least become a favorite of hers?

My teacher, only plays violin, and she treats other sections like they’re invisible. And she allows her concert mistress do anything. OK, she’s good but she doesn’t have the right to say,”Oh I’m sorry, but this one person sucks.” The teacher just goes like, well, she or he isn’t that experienced yet. I’m like, SHUT HER UP, you’re the teacher (that only teaches one instrument), you have the authority.
Hi, I have recently been highly interested in wanting to learn how to play the cello. My only concerns though are that I am too old to learn (I’m 17) because it seems like most people who have played started at a very young age or even middle school. I am also having issues trying to find someone who actually teaches private cello lessons. I am regretting not taking orchestra as a class at school because I’m getting ready to graduate and if I were even wanting to take classes in college involving the cello, I wouldn’t be able to take them because I certainly wouldn’t make try outs. I don’t know what to do. Should I just get a cello and teach myself?
